The state of the environment is a global public concern as is environmental protection. On a corporate level, many companies are facing increasing pressure to improve their environmental performance. They are being requested to evaluate the environmental impacts of their activities while concurrently improving their environmental programmes. Companies must be proactive and voluntarily take on initiatives to improve environmental management and monitoring. Management tools such as waste minimisation and energy management programmes, good housekeeping practices, impact assessments and environmental auditing should constitute the environmental management system (EMS) of a company.

Environmental Awareness

In order to implement sound environmental policy, it is essential that all your staff have a basic understanding of the company's environmental stakes on a global and legal level. Case studies will be presented to encourage debate and discussion and to gain greater understanding of environmental problems.

Air Emissions

This course provides an overview of the stakes involved in relation to air pollution from a historical point of view, including but not limited to the sources and types of emission, standards and legislations, measurements, controls and air treatment.

Liquid Effluents

This course covers issues including legal requirements, characterisation of effluents, treatment strategies, safety procedures, operation and costs. Case studies will be presented to illustrate the financial and environmental advantages of implementing good practices.

Contaminated Grounds

Participants will be exposed to pertinent issues concerning contaminated grounds, why and how a company should avoid contamination, the pros and cons remediation techniques.

Waste Minimisation

Many companies are now recognising that they can substantially reduce their costs by adopting a systematic approach to waste minimisation. This course illustrates the various approaches to this subject.

Energy Management

Many companies have become aware that they can reduce their energy costs by 20% in implementing an effective and systematic energy management system. This necessitates the involvement of all, therefore, emphasizing the importance of propagating this course throughout the company.

Environmental Auditing

This course covers on-site auditing techniques, from defining scope and objectives to dealing with reporting and follow-up. A certain number of case studies and exercises are included in this course in order to better ascertain the components of an EMS, audit, etc. Furthermore, good and bad practices will be debated and discussed.
