Mohamed Sinan

Mohamed Sinan is an expert in water resources and climate change. He is professor at the Ecole Hassania des Travaux Publics (EHTP) in Morocco. Specialised in hydrogeology, he obtained his PhD in hydrogeology in 1986 at the University of Langedoc in France and defended his thesis in hydrogeology in 2000 at the Mohammadia Engineering School in Morocco. He has led several research projects in Morocco and internationally in partnership with public, semi-public, private and international organisations. He is married and father of three chidren.

His professional experience is characterized by several posts and functions: Engineer hydrogeologist at the general board of hydrology in Morocco (1987-1992); and at the Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières (BRGM) in France (1992-1994); Educational leader of geographic information sciences at the EHTP (2002-2007); Chief of the department of hydrology, environment and climate at EHTP (2005-2009); and research director at EHTP (2009-2013).

In 2008 (alongside the EHTP depratment for which he was director), Mohamed Sinan obtained the environmental Hassan II prize and in 2007 the second prize of the Grand Prix for Invention and Research in Morocco. He is also member of the French Academy of Water and of the Scientific and Technical National Council on Climatic Change in Morocco.
