Beat Burgenmeier

Beat Bürgenmeier has been professor at the University of Geneva since 2009 and guest professor at the University of Versailles since 2005. He was Chairman of the Centre for Human Ecology and Environmental Sciences from 2001 to 2007 and Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences from 1995 to 2001. His research interests revolve around socioeconomics, particularly in the field of environmental protection.

He is currently president of the Scientific Committee of Fondaterra (a European sustainability foundation), member of the advisory board of the German Association for Environmental Professionals, member of the scientific committee of the programme "Management and impacts of climate change (GICC-2)" of the French Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development, and member of the Advisory Board for the Swiss Government in Environmental Research. He is also on the editorial board of several international scientific journals, and is involved in many research institutions, such as the European Science Foundation.
